my christmas money ish-list!

I have been a lucky lady with my christmas money this year, but I seem to be having a little trouble spending it... I'm so used to being a cheapskate bargain-hunter, I've forgotten how to treat myself to more expensive things! I keep getting as far as the checkout on websites and then freaking out and closing the windows!

I'm in no hurry to spend it, so it's fine. I've put it in its own little online savings account so I don't squander it and can treat myself whenever I want over the coming months, which'll be great. But at this point, squandering is the least of my worries when I can't actually bring myself to buy anything!

Here are the main things I'm lusting after... Not quite a wishlist, but an ish-list!

Topshop dress - This has just come into the store I work in and I love the sweetheart neckline and the heart cutout on the back. It's the most flattering shape, too. I might purchase it, but am hoping if I bide my time until the end of the month I can get it with 60% uniform discount!

Longchamps Pliage inspired bag from eBay - I love the Pliage bags, but despite my festive windfall, I don't want to blow £125 on one! So I'm going to be a bit of a skank and just get a fake one on eBay. The leathery bits are all real leather, apparently, so at least that's something!

OPI Rainbow Connection from Just Beautifully - I've seen this polish from the limited edition Muppets collection on blogs and it looks effing fantastic. Magic in a bottle. This is one of the only websites that still has it in stock, so I must get some!

Panther-heel shoes from Urban Outfitters - Quite simply the coolest shoes of all time.

Betsey Johnson inspired bulldog ring from eBay - Yep it's another designer fake, but it's so bloomin' cute and it's sold out on BJ's website now!

Monki leggings - I am strangely attracted to these leggings after I saw Misha B wearing them on X Factor!

F-Troupe boots - I only heard of this brand recently after I was filming with channel 4 right next door to their shop in London. Their shoes are completely gorgeous and I just know these handcrafted beauties would be a lifetime investment! The only thing slightly putting me off is whether tassels would go with everything I'd want to wear the boots with... Maybe I could remove them?

House of Holland bone-print dress from ASOS - I know I'd probably tire of this print quickly, but I am so loving all of the House of Holland bone print stuff on ASOS at the minute! I probably won't buy this, but it was worth a mention.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Light - I want a new foundation as my Double Wear has pretty much run out. I found DW a bit too cakey for me, so am currently trialling a sample of the Light version (Remember my Tuesday Tip on this?). I'm not entirely convinced it's a full enough coverage for me but it is pretty damn good so I'm undecided at the moment!

Well there's the items I'm umm-ing and ahh-ing over! Most of it isn't even expensive, but I have some sort of barrier up when it comes to spending money on anything less that total bargains and bills..! I think I'm getting there, though.

What are you planning to spend your christmas money on? Anyone else know what I'm on about with this fear of spending money?!

xo

  1. I absolutely love everything on your list, and having just got my student loan.. I am trying to restrain myself!
You could hunt down the OPI dupe instead, I've seen it in various Bodycare/Graham's!
I wish I could be as much of a bargain hunter as you! xx

  4. Oooh, that dress is so lovely!

I'm the same with spending money on more expensive things - since I started working full time, I've had a bit of money to treat myself to nice things I'll love, but always end up hesitant to spend that amount. Instead, I end up spending the same amount on cheap things I 'sort of like' that end up barely being worn! It's terrible!

  5. Ah go on, treat yourself! No, I'm with you on the being to scared to spend money too. But I guarantee when you don't have the money to spend, you'll find a million and one other things you want more. Them's the rules! Treat yourself when you're feeling grim, you can't beat a bit of retail therapy x

  6. maxi dress and boots are amazing, just do it!
although, i am EXACTLY the same when it comes to spending birthday/christmas money; i always feel guilty and as though I should buy something 'sensible' (boring), or save it despite the fact I'm sure people gave me that money to treat myself! Guilt is always less when it's a gift card though, don't you think? x

  7. I really want that Muppets polish, but since I just spent a hideous amount of money on a new laptop yesterday, I am attempting to not spend any more money on cosmetics! Although I will be making an exception for the Iris Apfel MAC collection. Its funny, I saw those shoes in UO the other day and thought of the black shoes you wear all the time because they are so similar!
Also, I understand what you mean about Doublewear- it does tend to be a bit cakey at times, especially since I have dry skin.

I have the Topshop dress but in the polka dot print, I love it but have only worn it once! The plain black seems so much more versatile. I have the ring too (; and DW Light is amazing! 18. I've been lusting after a Longchamp Le pliage bag as well, also was considering getting a lookalike! I'm glad I'm not the only one considering being a skank lol! x

  19. Damn, I think I have the opposite problem to you! I get torn and think "maybe I should try and cancel..." AFTER I've ordered things. Not very helpful! You probably deserve a splurge though if normally you resist! I'd say those panther heel pumps, they're not stupidly expensive but they look so different and designery (technical term)!

  33. Ugh I unfortunately know exactly what you mean!
I always save up for ages and then when it comes to buying things I think to myself, I could easily get this for half price elsewhere, I'm so stingy!
Never have a problem spending on other people though!
Anyways, loved everything on the list especially the dress :0

  34. I think this could possibly be the worst day ever to visit your site... My loan has come in, and I'm trying my hardest not to spend it. Those Panther Urban Outfitters courts are AMAZING - I love that shop, it's my favourite and their sale has bankrupted me. The Monki Leggings would also be on my list, as well as the Topshop dress! Fight the urge to spend it all at once, perhaps buy one every... Week!?

  35. I went to the DW Light for a while as I didn't like the cakey-ness but recently return back to regular DW as there wasn't enough coverage in the light. Let us know how you get on if you do get it! :D

  45. Oh my gosh Gem I'm glad someone else is like me with money and wants to get the best possible value out of what they've got!

The OPI Rainbow Connection is absolutely gorgeous, I was lucky enough to get it for Christmas and I do love it! However there are a few other glitter nail varnishes that have appeared in the last few months, NYC Colour and Angelique both do really gorgeous multi colour glitters that if you even bought two bottles and layered them over one another they'd still be cheaper than the OPI one. Plus they're getting really hard to find and I'd hate for you to shell out over the top for something like that.

I know everyone else has probably said this - both those F-Troupe boots would be a seriously good investment. I snapped up boots in Debemhams in the sale last January and they have kept me so toasty through rain and snow. I could have bought cheaper ones but you really do need to invest a wee bit of money in good boots. Those ones could be worn with SO many different outfits for months and months and the wee tassle on them is just seriously lovely.

Hope you spend your money on what makes you happy though, some things are just worth splashing out on. Oh and I'm seriously jealous of the discount you get too, def take advantage of that! :)
