Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain

On this rainy, rainy Thursday, I decided to wear my charity shop Per Una blazer to work. I haven't worn it in ages as it always looks a bit crap in my mind, but I forget how well it fits me. Today's look received such compliments remarks from colleagues as 'very professional' and 'very authoritarian' - not sure what to make of those, but I for one enjoyed the androgyny of it all!

Roxy chilling out in her cat kennel + the conifer getting a *much needed* water!

Work was funny today. I was helping a lovely little old lady called Rita find a specific fluffy white jumper and after she bought it she came and gave me a big hug and kiss, haha! My retail stopgap definitely has its ups and downs (especially today!) but lovely customers do help make it worth the stress. The other day I was helping this gorgeous girl who played saxophone on a cruise ship (best job ever?!) find a good 'make-the-ex-regret-losing-me' outfit for a night out. Then there's the amazing teeny tiny chihuahua, Coco, whose poor owner (whose name I don't know!) has to put up with me baby-talking and fussing over it every time she comes in! I go to mush when there's a cute animal nearby!

Another long day at work tomorrow but on Saturday its mine and Alex's SIXTH anniversary! Eeeeep! Not sure what we're going to get up to yet as I do have a short shift to work in the afternoon, but I think there will be fine cuisine and fireworks involved in the evening!

I'm off to eat cookies, whinge to Alex about my AGONISING RIB and watch Educating Essex.

<3

PS - ASOS are doing a cracking deal on the new Models Own nail varnishes I blogged about! x

  4. Ooooh authoritarian. Now you just need a pointer and a PowerPoint presentation to become the next CEO of fashion blogging!

Coincidentally, it's raining here in Louisville, too.

Finally, I love Roxy's cat kennel! My cat Jesse's an indoor cat, so no kennel for him.

  25. Fab outfit as usual - I'm loving the charity shop brogues!
That's so cute about the old lady giving you a hug! Shame nothing like that ever happened to me when I used to work in Next. I once got a real shock when I walked into the trousers section and found an old lady IN JUST HER PANTS trying a pair of trousers on. When you're old, you don't even have to bother with changing rooms apparently...
Also, how lovely that your anniversary is on Bonfire Night - hope you guys have a lovely time whatever you do xxx

  26. Oh, wow, congrats on the anniversary!

When I worked in retail the best part was definitely fifty-fifty the people I worked with and the people who came in to shop.

It's funny because in the end I hated working in retail and the snobs who would look down on you (even though I had an MA!) because you were there to "serve" them, but I often miss it now. It was in retrospect amazing to be paid to smile and chat and generally make peoples' days.

  27. You look lovely. I hate when people say things and you can't work out what to make of it, but anyway I really like your outfit.
Oh bless that old lady that is so sweet, and then there is me awkwardly recognising you from your here, haha.
    Wow 6 years, congratulations! That's so lovely. I hope I get that.x

  28. I like that blazer lots, it's smart but not too smart if you get what I mean! aww happy anniversary for tomorrow, it was mine and Scott's fifth last month. How time flies! I also agree that lovely customers make working with the public the best but then you do get the horrid ones which spoil it, booo to them!

  29. I love this outfit, the blazer does look fab on you! And I completely agree. I work in retail as well and while putting up with/having to be nice to/helping nasty people is horrible, lovely customers make it all worth it!
