Style spotting at the UCA Fashion Promotion Private View

A week ago, it was the private view of mine and my fellow Fashion Promotion graduates uni exhibition at the OXO gallery on the South Bank. Outfit wise, I went for the slutty dork look. Strapless mini dress and clodhoppers. What a combo.

(shrug - h&m, dress - c/o tesco ages ago, belt - primark, dm's c/o very)

Not sure why I'm doing a vaguely sexual hand gesture (a la House of Holland!)

I had a few pieces of work on show. My portfolio, my 'tuesday tips' book and the accompanying research book that I handed in with it. The last 2 even had their own plinth! Eep!

Postcards of each student's work (with contact deets on the back).

(My portfolio... some of the mobile App I designed for my Topshop project!)

My shiz on a plinth!

Anyway, I met some interesting people at the private view, but more importantly managed to grab some pics of some of my stylish uni pals!

Laura and Emily (aka. my crew) fully representing Topshop!

Amber looking insanely glam!

Kayleigh in an Urban Outfitters number

Jenna rocking a charity shop dress and some killer heels!

Did any of you go along to check it out? I'm hoping to get a portfolio website up and running ASAP (any recommendations on portofolio site builders?) so I'll be able to share my work with you if anyone's interested!

Hope you've all had a lovely week and have some nice weekend plans?

I have work tomorrow and will be spending the rest of my weekend preparing/researching/outfit-planning for my work experience at a national newspaper beginning on Monday! Eep! Probably not supposed to name them, but for any regular readers, it may be obvious..!

Ooo I do love your outfit (including the hand gesture, that genuinely made me laugh) and your colleagues all look very stylish, I really liked what Jenna and Laura were wearing :) Well done on your project, it looks like you certainly put in a lot of effort and congrats on the internship... I have a feeling it's at The Times considering you were featured in that not long back. Get you if that is so! Weekend looks set to be making the most of the free time I have before going back to school.. oh boo. Enjoy outfit planning and whatnot and thanks for your comment (I literally squealed since I've read your blog for yonks) - I did purchase the creepers :) xxx

  17. Slutty dork look ♥ haha Gem, that is why I love you! Jen's (A little bird) boyfriend made my site for me for £60, its www.aydenmillar.com. Which is pretty good but you can also design your own flash site at Carbon made (but, even though they look pretty they can take AGES to load, which could put a potential employer off) a few of my friends use it. Email me if you want any more info :) But Jens boyf did a smashing job of mines! xx

I am a complete computertard and I did my portfolio on wix.com, you can see it here -> www.catherinemeadows.co.uk

It's free (it costs about £3 a month if you want your own domain) and really easy! xxx

  26. I like the dress/shoe combo, those docs really do seem to go with everything! I might have to invest in a pair!
I've heard good things about Carbonmade as a portfolio builder but I haven't tried it myself but it might be worth a look. It might be a bit too art-based for what you're after though.
Good luck on your work experience!
