Greek chic

Evening all!

Thanks for your response to yesterday's Tuesday tip! I've had a few Twitpics of people that have already got their spots on: @lucyjanewood, @effjaydee, @NikkiSunshine25 @diamondcanopy. Looking just lovely!

Back to business: A couple of weeks back, Wonderbra contacted me to see if I'd like to be one of five bloggers to try out one of their t-shirt bras in their 'white t-shirt challenge'. Not to be confused with a wet t-shirt challenge, I might add! Along with a bra, we also got some credit to spend on Very.co.uk to help us style up the t-shirt. Always passionate about matters of the breast, I obliged. (Hmm, that sounded a bit dodgy!)

I opted for a Love Label midi skirt and Dr Marten shoes* to go with the white t-shirt I was sent, adding some of my own leopard accessories. I also coined a new term in my mind for the grunge geek look I'm always pursuing - Greek! Not sure Greek chic is really working for me on this occasion, but I think the skirt and shoes will look awesome styled separately.

I decided to get a more close up shot of my fun bags with a flash, to show you just how invisible the t-shirt bra is! I got it in the Skin tone - not the most aphrodisial look (Alex concurs), but it's the ONLY shade underwear to wear under pale coloured tops. Wednesday tip for you there. I don't even understand  white bras. You can totally see them under white shirts! Someone explain plz.

On a practical note, the bra is very structurally sound. I feel extremely supported and jiggle-proof, and quite minimised too, which is fine by me. It's also really comfy, and unlike my M&S equivalent, I do not feel like my boobs are being banished to either side of my rib cage, doomed to a life of solitude. If they were a footie team, they'd definitely be Boobs United right now.

(Skirt - Very, shoes - Very, socks - Topshop, scarf - H&M, Scaffolding - Wonderbra)

I'm chuffed to bits with this new bra, and for £26 it's definitely something I'd buy in real life. I may scrimp in almost all other areas of my life, but I don't mind paying a bit extra for future sag-prevention! If you're a size D-G you can find this bra here. A-DD's can find the bra here

Have you tried Wonderbra t-shirt bras before? If not, what is your brand of choice?

♥ xo

* - Any tips on how to break these babies in? In an ideal world, I don't want to be standing on the fitting room at work in my socks, sobbing about my swollen, bleeding feet, like the last time I broke DM's in. It's unprofessional, for one, not to mention bloody painful and generally awkward for everyone involved!

  1. You do the hard work so we don't have to ! Or something... (Boobs United made me giggle. What strip would they play in?)

Breaking in DMs... all I can recommend is really thick socks(or even two pairs) to stretch them out a bit and absorb some of the pain. Not ideal for the sudden warm weather, though!

  2. Really like how you styled that skirt, I never feel comfy wearing longer skirts without wedges x

  3. I've never considered a wonderbra ever, being another breasty lady, I just fear they'll give me chin rest boobs. Also so many of their bras seem to be low at the front and mine just seem to make an escape through the middle of these! I also tend not to get on with anything shaped/padded so always end up with a lacy balconette which just aren't as good under t-shirts... I am tempted to take a look at these though after your glowing review!

  4. oh god i think i still have unbroken in dms from age 14 that got worn once before i decided it was too much torture to deal with! my kate kanzier brogues were the same but i manned up and got extremely blister plaster/sudocrem happy!

  5. My favourite tip for breaking in DMs is to wrap all the areas that will usually get blisters in duct tape (yes, really) then put on 2 pairs of socks. After a while, you won't even need the duct tape! I know it sounds strange but it works mega well.
I suspect white bras are for people who want to draw attention to their boobs while pretending not to be drawing attention to their boobs, if you know what I mean...like "Oh look, my t-shirt bra is showing, what a catastrophe...no really look at it."
God, I sounds like a weirdo.

  6. Oh you total babe as usual. Those babies look banging - go wonderbra!
Any tips about the DM's please pass my way. I wrote about this on twitter a little while ago and some suggestions were to wet the leather and leave over night but haven't had a chance to try yet. Do a tuesday tip's for the grungers please! xxx

  8. Wonderbra are a favourite...need to stop buying all my lingerie in la senza. Have you tried the hands bra yet? Wonderba's strapless bra? It's the best..and one of the few strapless bras that hasn't made my boobs look like a total nightmare zone. (Sexy...you bet.)
That skirt's gorgeous by the by......and will deff be looking in to investing in some more wonderbra bras x

  9. I don't get white bras either, they stand out like crazy AND god forbid if you decide to wear one and you go out and someone takes a snap- the white really loves the flash (my friend found out the hard way). Anyway, never tried wonderbra! I get scared away from all the padded/gel ones and never think to look at the other styles. Maybe next time!

  10. I don't understand white underwear at all. I don't own any, don't think i ever have, but i can't imagine ever wanting to, it's visible through clothes, and always seems to look grey if you catch a glance of someone's white bra strap showing. Ick.

  11. such a cute outfit
omg i had doc martins years ago for school and they killed my feet :[ i find them so hard to break in, better stock up on the old plasters lol xxx

  12. I have never tried a wonderbra... I would like to though. Even though I am a G cup, I love big boobies!

Someone told me you can stretch shoes by putting wet newspaper inside them, scrunched up tightly, and put them in the airing cupboard to dry. Another thing is to put vaseline on the shoes and your feet!

love that midi tube skirt with the socks. clashing perfection

  15. stuff your DM's with wet newspaper, really pack loads in, as the newspaper drys it stretches your shoes thus making them ready to wear! works a charm on any shoes.

  16. I agree with the comment about the Wonderbra ULTIMATE STRAPLESS (requires capslock - it is that good). It is amazing and the hands are hilarious. I like the way that Wonderbra does a good range of larger sizes for some bras... Deeply irritating that the Dita von Teese collection only went up to D though. What is burlesque about that!? x

  17. I spent ages pondering the shoe stretching question a while back and the best answer I got was offline, and it sounds a bit batty. Get a sandwich bag, fill it with water, shove that as far in the shoe as you can and then pop it in the freezer. Water freezes and slowly expands stretching your sore shoe sides with it! Hopefully.
    Good luck xx

  18. That outfit looks gorgeous. I love the skirt, but I'm always wary of horizontal stripes in that area..

You should just wear your shoes all the time when you're at home and break them in that way? When I worked at a clothes store, in your contract you HAD to wear heels. My feet were actually bleeding after only 4 hours and my boss wouldn't let me take them off. Bad times!! xx

  19. Hey
Ive had quite a few pairs of DM's over the years and Ive found that if you wear tights and socks - even just round the house they wont rub and the extra layers strech the boots. I dont know why tights and socks and not just two pairs of socks.
Ive heardthe newspaper trick before but it never bothered trying it.
    Love your outfit
    xx

  20. Gem, I think I'm love with you. Mostly for your never ending quest to keep us breasty ladies supported. It never occurred to me that Wonderbra would be good for ladies with a larger chest; I always figured for them for making more minimal boobs like bigger.
What a bargainous price for a good bra, I may have to check those out.

  21. I wish someone would dress my boobs! Love your outfit

  22. This reminds me, I need some new bras. I must have lost weight because what used to be a D cup set of boobs have shrunk :( DAMN IT.
Think it's about time I splashed out in the bra department. It's long overdue.

I actually caught my friend breaking in her new heels by making her mom wear them around the house in socks. It's not advisable to use your mom as a shoe breaking in slave - but if you run out of ideas... Haha not really, if I even suggested it to my mom she'd go ape.

  23. To brak the shoes in you could stuff them with newspaper and using a hair dryer over the shoes to make it softer and more wider.

Michelle Phan has got vids on braking shoes in using ice http://www.youtube.com/user/MichellePhan#p/search/0/qf5mJ7aR2t8

  29. when i was breaking in my DMs I wore them around the house in skisocks. it's hurts and takes a while but will be worth it in the end. i really like the short ones too, wanted a pair like this for ages. the bra sounds good and looks totally invisible, might have to check it out

  30. Ooh I want one of these to hold my babies in!

Regards to the DMs - try stuffing them full of wet newspaper (really pack it in) and leave them for a couple of days. It stretches them out a treat. I do it whenever I get a new pair of boots. <3

  31. I really like your socks and just the whole outfit in general is great. x

  32. I know what you mean about white bras, no point at all, just like those horrible clear straps people wear - eurgh

  34. I've always thought Wonderbra did 'wheeeyyy, get 'em out for the lads' type bras. I seem to be mistaken! This looks great. x

  35. Oooh this is one of my favourite outfits of yours <3
The midi-skirt/DM/leopard print socks combo is just amaze balls.

  36. Hi Gem! I use a hammer to break in any leather shoes - just bash them where they hurt! Depending on how sturdy your kitchen table/bench is, use the corner to hook the back of the shoe on and bash away. It softens them up in no time! If you're worried about marking the leather too much you can put a tea towel over the leather before hitting at it. I hope that helps!

  37. I agree re: white bras. They're good for nothing! No DM tips to share sadly, but you look great! :)

    For a very long time
To see if I could spot the bra outline

  42. awww I LOVE this look :) ESPECIALLY the Docs and socks combo - grunge geek is pretty much my favourite look of all time innit :)

Fraid I can't offer any specialist advice to break in Docs - I wore mine through the worst winter in Scotland in 20 years and that did the trick!

Also, I've been reading your blog for aaaaaages but never really felt like I should comment cos loads of folk already do and I figure it might be boring for you to read the same kinds of things over and over but aaaaanyway I love it - just wanted to let you know!

Thanks for following me too btw :) xx
