Dorothy Perkins Denim Challenge: Day 1!

Morning all!

Lots of outfit posts to come this week, as Dorothy Perkins have asked me to be one of 5 bloggers to take part in their 'Denim Challenge'! Every day this week, I'll be styling a different style of jean that DP have to offer. Let me begin by pointing out that although the jeans are freebies, you can't put a price on integrity, so any opinions I do share will be totally honest! I respect my blog and you all too much to have it any other way.

What is so refreshing about Dorothy Perkins' blogger outreach is that they have allowed us some creative freedom with the jeans they send us. So if we're not flares fans, we are free to slice and dice the jeans into whatever style we like! I'm going to try and use this experience to step out of my comfort zone a bit and experiment with other fits of jeans, so shall try to refrain from being too snip-happy!

Today is Super Skinny Jean day, so I picked a pair of the distressed Indigo jeans (rrp £28). I wore these as soon as they arrived in the post on Friday. I went for lunch with Alex and his family, which ended up being a 3 course feast, and despite the fact I had inflated to twice my original size, the stretch-factor in these jeans meant I was perfectly comfortable! The jeans are quite high rise too, so muffin-watch patrol wasn't necessary. Impressive for £12 less (rrp) than my usual jean choice! It's worth pointing out they do come up a tad roomy, so if you are a 12 in Topshop jeans, opt for a 10 in Dorothy Perkins.

I'm wearing them to uni today with my New Look wedges and DIY tee. I've seemingly got a bit over-excited at the slightest hint of sunshine, hence the crop top, but I will be layering up with a cardi and big coat to prevent pneumonia. Safety first, people.

So, day 1 of my Denim Challenge has been a breeze, as skinnies are firmly within my comfort zone. In fact they are the only jean 'genre' I have worn in the past 6 years, so I think the real challenges will begin tomorrow! Eek!

Check out Dorothy Perkins' blog, as mine and the other bloggers' outfits will be posted on there at some point today!

I'm off to learn and stuff.

  3. Love the skinnies! They're very flattering actually. I only do skinnies too so I'd be terrible at this challenge. Bootcut, skinny flare, wide leg - I'd probably end up snipping! I'm intrigued to see what you put with them so will be staying tuned to your blog all week haha!

P.s - thanks for your lovely comment the other day, I know this sounds sad but when I got an email saying you'd commented i was like NOOOO WAYY as this is one of my fav blogs!

Have fun learning! I'm on reading week YIPPEEE. Got lots of work to do for Uni though so I'll be self learning.

  4. Haha, I have been resisting the skinny trend for the last 6 years, (guess it's not exactly a trend if it goes on for six years). I finally caved the other day, even though my beloved flares are in for a revival. Looking forward to seeing how you style the rest!

  6. As lovely as DP jeans look, they fade and shrink horribly quickly. And I agree; the sizing is roomy x

  8. Those jeans look great on you. And I love the headscarf in your hair. I'm always so jealous of your hair Gem!
I need some new jeans. I only have one pair that I really wear, and even though they're quite new they're now massive, cause they've stretched out so much. So it's back to the horror of jeans shopping for me!

  9. I cannot remember the last time I wore a pair of jeans, must be over 5 years ago! They were skinny cheap mondays but I dont own any jeans now. Embrace the 70s boho trend & wear some flares, you can pull them off xx

  10. love how they look on you! the high rise is def a good factor, one of the reasons i never wear jeans is that i cant stand the angst over possible builders bum when i go to sit down! x

  16. I abandoned all of my jeans about a year ago, always jealous of people who can wear skinny skins though lol

  17. I live in Dorothy Perkins jeans. They're about the only ones I buy. A choice of leg-length is pretty essential for shorties like me, and I find the fit really flattering. Plus, they hold their shape well. No saggy knees syndrome for me!
I'm a skinnies girl too, so I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the other styles.

  20. lovely outfit, and i really look forward to seeing your other outfits! i find it very hard to find jeans that fit, so once i found a topshop pair i always go for the same range in the same size, so my choices are very limited, but these super skinnies look great!

    also i love your wedges!

  23. I don't wear jeans much so will be interested to see how you style them for some inspiration. Would also be interested to hear about the fit. I have always found the waists on DP jeans big in comparison to the hips and legs (or is it my hips and legs are big in comparison to my waist?)

  24. i like your DIY tee
looks like a fun thing to be apart of!xxx

  29. I swear by DP jeans! In fact, I've just taken advantage of their £5 off deal and bought a fab new pair for a tenner. They're skinny flares - something I NEVER thought I'd like but I tried them on on a whim and I love them!

  31. Totally and beyond in love with your blog. It's my new crush. My name's Anna, I'm a stylist and visual merchandiser in LA. I'm 23 years old and moved to California after graduating back in south with a degree in visual merchandiser. I've been lucky enough since moving out here to work with some of LA's most respected designers. I'd love if you visited my new blog for multiple posts a day on all things fashion. I'd love the support. I'm following you, I hope you'll do the same. Thanks so much.

  32. I had a query! I have never tried any DP jeans, but recently came across their boot cut jeans and I am quite smitten by them. However, I am on the short side and they are only offering regular size jeans. So, would it be safe to purchase DP regular size jeans for a petite?
