Happy love day everyone :)
How's it been? Lovely? Depressing? Do share!
We've had a nice evening. Alex cooked his famous Spaghetti Bolognaise (I just looked at the word Bolognaise for so long it has lost all meaning... Hate when that happens!) and then we watched Come Dine With Me. We're having an interval so I can blog and he can erm, holler into his Xbox headset to his friends whilst shooting people, apparently. On the game, that is! Then we're reconvening to watch a movie! And that's my love day in a nutshell!

To honour this day of love, we wore his 'n' hers outfits. This is how we wore stripes and Vans:

(Tee - Next, Cardi - c/o A|Wear, Skirt - H&M)
Can you believe the state of Alex's Vans?! He stole them from his friend and toured the country in a band in them for a good few years. The rocking 'n' rolling has clearly taken its toll!
My shiny new Vans were kindly sent to me by Size. Most of their footwear is his 'n' hers friendly, as they are stocked from a size 4 all the way up to giant man sizes, which is rather neat. I'm hoping Alex will take a leaf out of my book and get some new Vans so I don't have to endure people's bemused stares at his feet in town anymore! Yes, he actually wears these out. In every sense!
It was lovely to read your various Valentines plans in the comments of my last post. Looks like a lot of people are having a chilled one like me and Alex! I don't think I've ever been out to dinner for Valentines... I imagine it'd be like being surrounded by people A) undressing each other with their eyes (possibly with under-table fondling) and/or B) going through the motions in their stale marriage and sitting in silence. Uncomfortable. And there you have the ponderings of a true hermit! Did any of you go out for dinner? Were any of my wild generalisations founded?
Back tomorrow for a Tuesday Tip! If it works, that is... I think I'll post it either way! Always handy to know what doesn't work, I guess!
♥
Yours has got to be my favourite Valentine's post I've read all day - seriously.
ReplyDeleteThe his-n-hers outfits have literally made my day :)
There has been a Tuesday Tips gap in my life for a while now, so I am very much looking forward to its return!

or C: being out-"in loved" by other soppy couples who are obviously in the first stages of romance/can't believe they have a date for valentine's day, and make you feel all stale and dried up 'love-wise'.
ReplyDeleteVal@home is much better.
xx
You both look very cute, I like the matching stripes.
ReplyDeleteI stayed in like a spinster with my dog haha. Hope everyone else had a more fun filled day than me xx
this is possibly the cutest post i've ever read. xo
ReplyDeletethats so cute! i loveee my vans - they are the same as yours but look more like Alex's :P
ReplyDeleteMy mum got whisked off for a meal with her boyf and gave me the gift of a box of valentines chocolates from co-op to occupy my sad lonely mind.
xx
You two look so adorable in your matching outfits!! <3
ReplyDeleteYou are both adorable, I love your matching outfits :).
ReplyDeletexoxo
So I am totally in love with your matching outfits, it's the cutest thing ever!!! Your cards are really sweet too! Sounds like you are having a lovely evening too. Happy V day. PS I like Alex's band, the youtube song is coooool!!
ReplyDeleteBow Dream Nation xx
I love the his and hers outfits! Also really agree with you, I hate to go out for Valentines day - I can imagine it being so awkward! x
ReplyDeleteI love the his and hers outfits! Also really agree with you, I hate to go out for Valentines day - I can imagine it being so awkward! x
ReplyDeleteaww you two are so cute!
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in also, went out for dinner on v day a couple of years ago and frittered away a £100 his not mine (well technically mine if it's his?!), now i'm older and wiser and we stayed in...who says romance is dead when i'm cuddling the dog and he's snoring his head off! he definitely needs a kick up the bum!
awhh your outfits are adorable! & i've totally seen the riverclub live years ago! how weird.
ReplyDeleteyeah i don't get going out to an overpriced restaurant on valentines day, awkwaaaard.
xo
aha this is amazing! i love it.
ReplyDeleteit sounds like a really lovely valentines day, hope it continues.

ReplyDeleteUsual day here, tomorrow is out half-iversary (18mnths) so we will have a nice steak dinner then.
How cute is it that you wore similar outfits, so amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou look like such a great couple, enjoy yr evening!
X
oh my god you guys are so cute!
ReplyDeleteYou're a cute couple! I love the matching outfits picture - Alex is clearly taking it very seriously.
ReplyDeleteThe only exciting thing I did today was try the new caramel aero. Pretty good. (My boyfriend is too faaar awaaaay, sob) Also there was travel mayhem, made all the more exciting by the number of people carrying flowers/boxes/boxes of flowers.

Aww, I love the his'n'hers idea! I bought my Andy a 'biting coin' - some magic trick to do with a coin which appears to be bitten in half... that he's wanted for ages, he took me to Tesco and I had my choice of food and we had a lovely evening watching 'The Wolfman' and generally eating/snuggling.
ReplyDeleteI can't see us going out for a Valentine's meal, largely because I love cosy, relaxing evenings but also because I wouldn't want the hassle of booking in advance and then being in a crowded restaurant, potentially waiting ages for a meal etc etc, I am very happy with just enjoying each others' company! :) xxx
Sounds like a nice day, and love your his and hers looks:) x
ReplyDeleteOh bless the pair of you! I get easily annoyed by cute couples but I'll make an exception for you two ;-) Alex looks so super serious in that photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm usually fully against anything vaguely romantic, but your matching outfits are actually canny!
ReplyDeleteValentines Day hasn't been too rough for us. We cooked a massive meal of steak and didn't even have to put out after, sometimes being single isn't so bad!

The matching outfits are AWESOME :)
ReplyDeleteI can't seem to go out for dinner with my boyfriend at all, we tried for our anniversary and then ran home to eat Ben and Jerrys and watch Come Dine With Me because it all felt far too scary and grown up for us rather silly people.
Haven't done anything today, but am looking forward to buying sod loads of discounted chocolate tomorrow!
I LOVE your his and hers outfits!! Seriously adorable!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a routine I'm familiar with - me blogging while my boy shouts and shoots at people on his xbox, haha!
you two look made for each other!
ReplyDeleteand i kind of like alex's vans...

Ahh, cuteness! I love how you're both similar but not in a ridiculous way, and I hope you enjoyed your film,
ReplyDeleteRosie x
Cute outfits! My boyfriend and I went for dinner, (because living together we never treat ourselves). We spent the whole time (in a little secluded resturant), laughing and pulling faces, probably being totally innapropriate, then went home and pretty much had the same evening as you! was a great laugh and something nice.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your evening x
Nath and I have matching converse... I don't wear them often but have had it ripped out of me for matching him.
ReplyDeleteWe stayed in, ate fajitas, drank prosseco and dipped strawberries in chocolate, any excuse really!
Penny x
Your his and hers outfits are awesome :) I have those Vans that you have, they look so new compared to Alex's! Pretty soon the material bit is going to completely detach from the sole! Haha.
ReplyDeleteMe and the boy stayed in and ate lots of food too, I really don't like the idea of going out and being surrounded by couples either - or the hiked up prices and valentine's menus! We also had a break so that I could blog and he could play Donkey Kong (I don't know whether that's better or worse than Xbox hollering!).
xxx
His-n-hers outfits was such a good idea! You look fab! Made me smile :)
ReplyDeleteMy own Vday was spent having cocktails with the girls then visiting a massive and very posh-looking club afterwards.
xo
You've just totally inspired me to do 'his and hers' outfits in a very near future! :)
ReplyDeleteHa! Love your his n hers outfits!
ReplyDeleteThere's always a tiff in our house when we both appear ready to go out dressed similar - I always win!
Dinner on your knee infront of the telly is always the best V Day x
the card you got your boyfriend is adorable! where one earth did you find that!?x
ReplyDeleteHaha the his 'n' hers outfits are both hilarious and cute!
ReplyDeleteMy boyfriend came round and we watched The Hangover with take-away...with my 4 housemates and 2 extra single friends. We don't much go in for Valentine's celebrations!
Aw sounds like you had a lovely Valentines day! your very lucky. And you have made me want vans even more then i did before! you make them work so well xo
ReplyDeleteaw you two look so cute in your matching outfits!
ReplyDeleteAw, love the matching outfits. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteI had a chilled Valentines with a night-in as well. The restaurants round here had all cranked their prices up, so we figured in was a better option.
such cute outfits, you could be models!
ReplyDeleteamy,x
I worked in a restaurant last night full of said people. Too much PDA. Valentines day at home beats that any day. The picture of your cards made me smile, I got almost exactly the same typewriter one for my boyfriend and he also got one for me saying 'For my wonderful wife'. Great minds eh!
ReplyDeleteHaha this is actually really cute, and usually I hate everything coupley.. especially on V-Day!!! Hope you had a nice time, am sure you did :)
ReplyDeleter x
It sounds like you had a cute evenig.
ReplyDeleteI went out for a proper valentines date for the first time ever (I just blogged about it too), but yeah I did notice a few unhappy looking couples who I don't think were really feeling it.
I was probably the annoying smug lovely-dovey type! Oh well, I had a blast!
Love your outfit.
Christina x
Love the idea of a his 'n' hers outfit! Sounds like you had a lovely chilled Valentine's day :)

Staying in is definitely the new going out! hah this is funny aswell because I got my boyf the same card as you :) Is he a graphic designer by any chance? Liam loves typography, so it was a snap decision! jazzy ♥
ReplyDeleteHehe I love your matching Vans, looks like you had a lovely matching day! My shoes look much like Alex's but they are from my own careless wear and tear, no cool story behind them! "You're just my type", wonderful. x
ReplyDeleteJust been catching up on yer posts miss :) this one made me smile, your 'interval' antics sound JUST like me and david. COD, yeah? Should we get COD widow tshirts to match? You two look ADORABLE btw! and lovely v-day cards :) me and david had a quiet one in the house, was lovely. your new vans are awesome btw, they look sooooo new next to alex's! haha deary me :p xx
ReplyDeleteHis & Hers! How cute!
ReplyDeleteWe went out for lunch and I did indeed see some undressing with eyes and even, unfortunately, under table fondlings. At lunchtime too! Inappropriate.
So cute!
