Retail Therapy

*Holy Moly, my last post was my 400th! Here's to another 400! (I can hear your groans from here!) ♥*

Sorry I've been a bit quiet this week. I had a hideous uni presentation to prepare for, so I fell off the radar for a bit there! I'm definitely struggling with being back at uni. It's my third year but I'm finding it so hard to motivate myself to do any of the work, even though I know how important this year is. I have an unexpected day off work today so I'm going to start work on my dissertation like a good scholar.

So, onto nicer things. I got my student loan through at last so have been able to treat myself to a few new things. All my horoscopes are telling me to be careful with my money so I've got a strictly-bargains policy going on at the moment. Just for a change..!

I had a little cosmetics spend-up. I wanted to buy some brown eyeshadow (not sure it suits me yet though), so took advantage on the 3 for 2 and picked up a mascara and face powder too. I also got the Rimmel matte topcoat all the bloggers are banging on about. Review coming soon!

I found these elegant little M&S 'heels' in my favourite local charity shop for a fiver. I need something to snap me out of my desert boot dependency, so maybe these are the cure. I like how they're cuter than flats, but the heel is so small it won't cripple me after an hour. Plus they aren't fugly like kitten heels. Score!!

This cosy (and on trend!) shearling little number was in the Primark sale for £4. I'm wrapped up warm in it as we speak. Lovely!

And I didn't buy this, but let's ogle it anyway. It's a gift from my friend Hannah, who shares my love of Paperchase goods! I'm only writing the most important of notes in this book. I don't want to waste it!

Have you had any good bargains lately?

I'm off to stick my head in some books. VOM.

  2. Paperchase is stationary heaven, if not a little on the expensive side! Gap has a sale on at the moment. I bought a big comfy jumper for Winter but you have reminded me (convinced me) that I need a new dressing gown! x

  3. Where on earth do you find this charity shop stuff?! I'm going to trawl Canterbury this week while I'm visiting the fam before I go back to the states. Am going to be between sizzling Florida and chilly Boston and have no idea how to pack. Charity shop rummaging is a must x

  12. When Borders shut down I thought that was Paperchase gone forever. You can't imagine my delight when I found there was a Paperchase concessions in Waterstones. I spent far too long cooing over wrapping paper, confirmed my worst fears that I am secretly 40.
Those shoes are adorable...and thank god for people who find kitten heels fugly. They belong in the burny fire.
Anyway...I think what I'm trying to say is...most excellent purchases my dear. The leopard print mascara may be my favourite.

  14. Report back on that matte top coat! And the mascara please! All my recent purchases have either been nail polishes, or magazines...I think I have a problem.

  15. Paperchase is AMAZING! I'm sort of glad the one in Glasgow's gone as now I'm not tempted to spend more money on wrapping paper than on the presents I buy for people's birthdays!
The matte Rimmel polish is really good btw, but beware-it becomes shinier after a day or so so it need refreshing.

  17. I have been buying far too many bargains - as per usual. I really do have a problem y'know..

Looking forward to hearing what you think about the matte nails - have been wondering whether to invest or not, so I'll wait & hear your verdict!

That amazingly cozy, soft, lovely, gorgeous Primark bargain? Yeah, I got it last week & have barely taken it off - I love it! Am wearing it as we speak..
Although, my sister was annoyed, as it's my birthday next week & she'd bought it for me a couple of weeks ago! She was really impressed with having spotted something that was so incredibly 'me', so now she's pissed off that I bought it for myself inadvertently!
I did tell her though I'd be happy to have two - I figure that way I'll never be without one - I can rotate them throughout the whole winter - lovely :)

  19. happy 400th post me dear! :) I found 3rd year easier towards the end (ironically) and once the dissartation was out the way and graduation was on the horizon I had a new found burst of energy (probs for wanting to escape - ha!)

I dont understand the folk in my year who failed their dissartation and didnt go back to resit. All those 3 years wasted, for nothing! Its hard not to give up on this final push, but youll be done in no time girlie :) In the mean time, I think a bit of retail therapy is TOTALLY allowed to cheer yourself up a bit.

thank you for the nice comment on my last post twinnie :) hope youve had a good weekend, and got your head out the books for at least a teeeny bit of cheesy weekend tv! xx

  21. The M&S heels are perfect actually, what a lovely find. I'm the same way with notebooks, I actually have a few that I've not written in yet! Almost bought the matte polish the other day but lack of funds meant I had to step away and get away from the lovely cosmetics at boots. Boo!

  22. I used that number 17 eye palette and its a pure joy! You won't be disapointed! x

  23. I love matte nails! Was a bit hesistant at first but now I obsessively mattify every colour because it makes them feel so smooth ;) Totally know what ya mean with Paperchase stationary; I've taken to writing in the teeniest handwriting ever to save space!

  24. I love Wild Curls mascara! The tube makes it even cooler.

I think the Rimmel matte top coat is really good. I have Revlon Matte nail polishes and they don't look half as matte as the when I put the top coat over normal polsh.

  25. Oh I like those shoes a lot. You're spot on about the heel - it's just a nice height and so much cuter than a kitten heel.

*fellow Paperchase obsessive here* I am still very sad that they closed the Borders in the retail park by where I work as it had a Paperchase concession in it. It was always the perfect cure to a shitty day at work to browse pens and notebooks and suchlike.
