Wardrobe wake up: Day 6!

Morning all!

How's your weekend going?

I had my friend Katie over, who I haven't seen in 8 months, so that was lovely. We did some shopping (well, I played personal shopper to Katie as I had no pennies of my own!) and had a gorgeous lunch at Boho café in town. Then Katie went home and Alex and I watched X Factor... Erm, LET DOWN! I couldn't get over the autotune they'd used in post production to try and make the contestants sound better! It was so blatant. I think they're going to get in quite hot water for trying to deceive us viewers! If you liked last night's X Factor, you'll love this... (even if you didn't, just click the link. Watch bottom video first!)

I tried to do head to toe polka dots yesterday, but I am not sure I'm feeling it. Some of my favourite spotty things are in the laundry basket, so I was a bit limited. But I do quite like how it's a bit 'wacky' but quite subtle.

Even when my outfits haven't looked that good this week, I'm still glad I've been trying them out. It is still more interesting that sticking on an h&m t-shirt and denim shorts! I've got something special planned for today's look, so I need to go and get on with sorting that out... All will be revealed!

Oh yeah, I tried to ombre my nails last night, inspired by Kylie from Nice & Shiny. I tried to do it a few weeks ago using this tutorial but it didn't work. I tried it again last night though and it did work better, but is by no means perfect! Will finetune the method and if I can work out how to do it perfectly, I'll do a tutorial for it.

  5. The autotune bugged the hell out of me last night. Also, I swear they used to show a lot more auditions. Now it's all just filler!

  7. cute outfit!
mm i thought i'd give x factor a chance this year but after all that auto tune rubbish i'm not going to bother (:

these shows are meant to be about finding talent...why can't they just stick to that?! ha.

  9. I really like this look cause it's not in your face even though it's all one pattern. I love how you work socks with shoes look as well, everytime I try it I end up taking them off as I feel silly.
I don't watch X factor, I only used to indulge in the days of Pop Idol, wow that made me feel old! But there was much outrage on FB last night about autotune, bet it was hilarious!

  10. I sat down with my fish & chips last night, watching the X Factor & thought there was something wrong with my telly! I can't believe they used an autotuner - & I can't believe I didn't work that out myself. I honestly thought the sound on my telly was dodgy - apparently I'm a bit of an idiot!

That is one very spotty outfit. I love me some spots, but I'd never have the guts to go out wearing head to toe polka dots - I wish I had your balls. And I definitely mean that as a compliment :)

I've just realised that I haven't commented pretty much all week, so I have a lot of catching up to do - as for your comment: Have you got your new phone yet then? Dunno if I should tell you this.. but I'm now on my second handset already. Had quite a few problems with the first. Was gutted too, because I love the phone! Hopefully it was just a dodgy handset though. My friend's also got it & hasn't had any problems at all, so fingers crossed for you! It's honestly just my luck, things are never just simple :p

  17. those nails look incredible...and i have to say i am a fan of the tights/socks combo. it looks so sweet. i really need to invest in a pair of socks, i guess i kind of resent the idea of paying 5 quid for one pair from urban outfitters when once upon a time that would have bought me a pack of 3.

  18. The autotune was such a let down. The whole charm with X Factor was the fact it was raw (in a way) I was disappointed.

Love the spots going on, especially the socks.

  21. Owww you should've done gothic, I imagined the stories you'd return with, permanently scarring some 6 year old dear me!

I've been catching up with loaddds of your blog posts this week, and I just want to say, what a load of people who have NOTHING BETTER to do with their time that scorn your entry. It's really pathetic, if they could think of so many reasons why you shouldn't have won.. they should have entered. WELL DONE.

  25. I had to comment for the autotune video alone, it is fantastic (in the weirdest possible way). Love all the dots; I think it works because the sizes and styles are different (I am officially after those socks). Also v.jealous you managed a jacket for your uniform; not aloud that in Brommers. Wish I could get the wax jacket...

  27. Why have I only just come across your blog? I totally agree about X Factor.. complete let down, I always feels it lets me down anyway! I love that you thought to wear head to toe in polka dots.. I would never think it would look good but I think you did a great job even if you didn't have all your polka dot pieces.. well I will definitely be visiting your blog again soon

  28. I like this outfit. If I had more clothes I would follow your advice and do this challenge too. But there aren't enough clothes in my wardrobe to try this <3

  29. Yeah, its a shame about X factor it was really obvious what they had done, also they showed hardly any acts at all: it was mostly just Dermot going welcom to the x factor a million times. :(

  30. Hey,

I just wanted to say congratulations on the Asos competition. I hope that you're ignoring Mcqueenlovers comments because your entry was really interesting and well written.

    Good luck with your assignments!

  31. Love the cute spottyness! I was abit disappointed with the Xfactor, I thought the whole idea was for the bad people to be bad and the good people to be naturally talented?!
