Embrace the lace!

Today, the little lace dress I bought from Primark in Glasgow made its first public appearance. I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing over how to wear it, but then remembered my Topshop unitard thing. It would look better if the unitard was black instead of grey but it serves its purpose when wearing see-thru dresses!

[Worn with my super cute little charity shop lace-ups, Topshop socks, Primark belt and Urban Outfitters clocklace]

I bought the dress on a whim, because it was only about £7 and looked really pretty but I can't think of any other ways to wear it. It's quite uncharacteristic of me because I normally buy things I know I can get a lot of wear out of. I haven't worn the H! by Henry Holland sheer shirt I bought in Glasgow either yet because I don't know what to wear under that either. I think my chest is a bit too obese to wear just a bra like some cheeky tinkers do! Maybe a bandeau or something?

Do you have any ideas of what to wear under lacey/sheer stuff?

Off to watch Big Brother now! Loving this series so far. I don't think Rachael should've been evicted. My boyfriend is pretty happy about it though, and awaits her inevitable Nuts/Zoo photoshoot with baited breath. FML. I don't actually let him buy those cringebomb magazines, by the way. I think one of his friends buys them. Eurgh. Men!

  1. "URGH MEN!" indeed! I think it looks lovely on you, maybe with some brighter tights? I always wear a top underneath it or distract people from my nudey underwear with a nice necklace :)

  5. Oooh, did you see my Formspring answer to this particular dilemma? Although I think I recommended a body too - I don't know either! Quite a tricky thing to pull off, but you look fab here. x

  6. This looks gorgeous on you - I picked it up in store but ended up putting it back, because it would've been a top on me. & I didn't want a top. I wanted a dress!
I have no idea how else you could wear this - the unitard is rather inspired - but do you have to entirely strip when you need the loo!? Sorry, personal question there - feel free to tell me to buggar off!

    On that note, I'll go..!

  7. Hm, I'm not really an expert on this topic, but I think a bandeau would be nice!
Also, I know this sounds weird, but I'm really wondering how the heck you go to the toilet in that outfit? (Don't think of me as some kind of creeper, I'm just curious as I've just ordered a jumpsuit myself!)

  10. You look fab in this Gem! I agree, Im not a fan of the whole 'bra on show' thing under these delicate numbers. I think what youve done is super cute, and yeah a bandeau would work too! Haha yep, I've seen rachael in her bikini on the front page of the papers already. She'll be loving it though! xx

  12. I think a bandeau would look good, and it'd be a nice take on the whole showing your bra deal. I love the shape of the little skirt!

  15. Haha your comment made me laugh - David is the EXACT same! Plays xbox religously. Your man play call of duty by any chance? Boys eh. He wasn't too keen on me spending like £150 in Topshop, but it was stuff I really needed and I'm good at the old justification game ;) xx

  16. I always find it hard to find things to wear under opaque clothes. But you look really great in this outfit :)

  17. So cute. When I wear this lacey see through top of mine, I'm just sure to wear my bra that looks like a denim bustier. Somehow, it doesn't look slutastic, but rather a little coy. Slips are great though for lace dresses!

  18. I have the dress is nude and navy, and I either wear them with primarks vests in the same colour underneath, I'm quite short so the vests work as dresses on me, I've also worn the dresses with a mens t shirt from primark over, cut so it's cropped and just hits the waist of the dress or other printed cropped tees.

  19. talking about BB, you remind me so much of ciamhe (or however you spell her name!) you look alike and everything. has anyone else ever said that? you could be twins! similar styles, similar look, and both stunners x

  20. Uuuuurg I will NEVER get over the skater silloette of this dress, I love it SO much. And although the lace trend has been around for ages, I've only recently been coming around to it. I bought a long lace dress from a thrift store a while ago an seeing your outfit now makes me really want to wear mine! Now, if only I could style mine as well as you did I'd be all set! ;)

  23. Love how you wore the dress! I think lace is lovely, but suppose it is a bit hard to wear. You look great though and you're wearing it really well.

  24. I looked at this dress for a long long time and really loved it but I genuinely couldn't think of a single way to wear it, plus it wouldn't really suit me anyway!

I suppose you could get a really brightly coloured satin slip (supermarket pj sections are good for this), hack it to the right length and wear it underneath?

  25. Hello!

Some sort of slip top always looks nice. Maybe in a nice neutral pinky colour?

I am loving Big Brother too (shame!)

  27. Wow! I would have never of thought of wearing a unitard under a lace dress. That's genious styling! Looks fab with the bow belt.

I've been following your blog for a while now, and totally love it. Would you mind taking a look at mine...
