Cooking up a storm!

I only just clocked the Emma Cook SS10 collection. Much like her AW09 Topshop collection there's an Animals of Farthing Wood vibe, and that basically = iloveit. Well, I may be over-reacting a little... A number of pieces did have a bit of a mumsy, prairie feel. But the cute pieces definitely make up for that. And I suppose she can't stick animals on everything or she'd just be a one trick pony (!) But if I ruled the world...

Behold the owl dress!! It is beyond amazing!

For her new Topshop line, she has ditched pets in favour of people!

Oh, and another thing! Emma is having a sample sale in December, so join me for a rummage! Please god let there be boots.

Hope y'alls are having a lovely day. I have a 3000 word essay to research and produce before Tuesday. Lame. I don't even think I know that many words!

Cool-ish Notion!

Yes, I know I'm scraping the barrel of wordplay there, but it's a Sunday, and a hungover one at that, so forgive me!
After running some errands in town today I thought I'd pop into WH Smith and see if there were any magazines suitable for chilled sunday perusal.
The first thing that caught my eye was a glance in the 'hobbies' section, where I found that WH Smith had catered to my two loves perfectly. (Anyone that buys i-D will know that it's rather unusual to find it beside Cat magazines!)

Haha! Away from the hobbies aisle, the next thing that caught my eye was Notion Magazine, which I've never noticed before but a cover featuring a bespectacled Annie jumped right out at me! After a quick flick, I read that it was available digitally, so I ventured home to investigate (my debit card breathing a sigh of relief).
So here's the dealio. Notion is a bi-monthly music/fashion/culture lifestyle magazine. Less pretentious than Dazed, less sexy than Vice... A pretty good blend of intelligence and nonchalance. They had a page on typography (as well as a double page spread analysing brand logos in another issue) which I geekily relished.
There were some things that didn't interest me, like most of the music stuff, but it's nice to pick up a magazine I haven't read before. The tone appeals to me, as I hate magazines that are too stuffy and formal. For example, regular features 'What the fuck' and 'who the fuck' irreverently present the latest cultural happenings to the reader. There's not a huge fashion focus to the mag, but the fashion content is good. The styling of the Annie interview spread makes me happy inside & there was this cool sporty editorial in another online issue. AA Leotard and creepers... Why not?!

At a delightful 0 pounds and 0 pence online, it's definitely worth a crack!

Dye hard.

*RANT ALERT*

I've had this little unitard obsession for a long while which was always stilted by the fact American Apparel sell them for like £25... A little much for my purse strings. So imagine my intense joy when I came across a light grey one in their sale for £9 a month or so ago. I really wanted to use it in my uni shoot too so I was pretty excited about it.

I wanted a black one but just figured I'll dye it.. Can't be that hard right? Wrong.

I shelled out a fiver in C&H for some Dylon hand dye and the salt stuff you need for it and started the process in the kitchen sink at home. I didn't realise you had to stir that shiz constantly for 45 mins?! So I didn't. Admittedly, I did cut a few corners and just gave it the odd prod in between watching Come Dine With Me (♥). So when I dried it, I was pretty peeved to find the colour was so uneven. And not remotely black. Just patchy charcoal grey with big streaks from sitting on the radiator. FAIL.

I really wanted a black unitard for my shoot, which was looming, so I next spent £6 on Dylon 'EASIER THAN EVER' machine dye. I excitedly followed the instructions and retrieved the item from the washing machine when the time was up, and was SEETHING to find it was still bloody charcoal grey! And that's not even the issue, it was totally patchified. And had some proper splatter effects going on. Lame!

Has anyone else tried to dye something black? Am I missing some kind of secret to achieving the perfect black shade?

So, yeah. £21 down the line, and my bargain isn't looking so bargainous anymore... I'm stuck with a patchy (and a touch misshapen after all of the manhandling) excuse for a unitard. I guess this is what you get for trying to be a cheapskate and cut corners when really, it would've been easier to get a black one in the first place! Sigh.

The shitness doesn't show up that well on camera. I'll still wear the unitard, but after all this drama it's just charged with negativity and bad memories!

Dylon, thanks for bankrupting me whilst also ruining my unitard dreams. I hate you!

Riri and meme!

So all going well, I'll be shimmying away at a secret location on Monday at Rihanna's album launch in partnership with Nokia. It's a pretty big deal, as she'll be performing tracks from her new album 'Rated R' a week before its release, to a global audience (the event will be being streamed worldwide!)

If you want FREE tickets, have a little click on the widget. Let me know if you get tickets so we can hang out!! If not, check out the live stream of it. Check back here for pics and goss from the launch!

As if the Luella news wasn't bad enough...

I had to go and lose my debit card, didn't I? I had just spent about an hour organising all of the returns I needed to do from the shoot, and I went to double check I had my card before I hit the town and it was nowhere to be found! Cue an hour of frantically upturning my flat to no avail. Mega stressful.
Prior to this, I'd had quite a chilled day, watching Amelie with the director's commentary for a uni essay. I love loafing about eating snacks and watching DVD's in the name of research.

Loafing attire:

Tee - Henry Holland for Debenhams, Leggings - Blue Inc, Hat - Topshop Slippers - Primark

I never told y'all about my bra-fit at Debenhams. Debenhams kindly invited me along to have my lady lumps measured and get a lovely new set of undies. Any regular readers will know I'm a bit of an underwear fanatic so naturally I was on the next train to London!
A lovely girl called Jade was assisting me and she was fantastic! The bra set I wanted, I needed in the next size up but they didn't have it so I was feeling pretty dead inside about it, but Jade got me to put the smaller one on and with the joys of tightening the bra straps and adjusting the back, it turned out to be the perfect fit! So here, I present to you... the loveliest bra ever! It's by Floozie. Which is precisely what I didn't want to look like when modelling it for you lot, so I teamed it with My New Hat (that shall never be removed now I've learnt the joys of hiding grubby hair!) and some Docs.

Skirt - h&m via jumble sale Specs - Brighton Lanes, Tights - h&m Hat - Welded to model's head

I'm just in love with it. I have tried on tens of the Topshop longline style but can never find one that suits the, err.. Curvaceous bust! So I'm v pleased. And parading about in it has certainly cheered me up after such a hideous afternoon!

Hope you've have had a calmer Wednesday than me?

WTF?

"Bartley shocks fashion industry as celebrity favourite Luella ceases trading"

This is the lamest news ever. Someone needs to hook my ultimate FAVE Luella up with some finances pronto! Luella, you can have my student loan and all my earnings from my 8 hour contract at Topshop. I've got your back.

Old New hat!

Sorry for my absence over the last few days, I finally had my photo shoot that I've been preparing so much for for a uni project (I had to devise and shoot a 5 page editorial aimed at Nylon, and style it all myself)! I'll be posting all of the final shots once I've finished the post production. Can't wait to share this thing that has swallowed up my life for the last couple of weeks!
I only got 2 hours sleep on Friday night because I was so nervous about the shoot yesterday, so I was sooo knackered after we'd wrapped at about 2pm. Even so, I went to a friend's cocktail birthday party. Apparently exhaustion makes you get hella drunk, hella quick and make some hella regrettable comments! It was all good fun though. My cocktail didn't win (it was a competition by the way). I think it was because I 'thought outside the box' and decided to do a non alcoholic cocktail (aka, I was too skint to buy booze..) So I used loads of fruit juices and had load of raspberries and blackcurrants in the bottom of the glass (AND I provided plastic spoons for everyone to eat their berries!)... It's a sad world we live in when individuality does not equal a cocktail competition win!
Anyhow here is what I wore, in my typical 'clothing is a billboard for my mood' manner... 2 hours sleep equals utter comfort dressing! And adorning of my new Topshop hat which I can't see myself removing in the near future.

(Btw, I am in my lounge, but it's what remains of the set for my photoshoot.. the lounge became a bedroom!)

Hope you've had a lovely weekend!

When Henry met Debbie!

Last night my partner in crime, Hannah & I nipped to London to check out the launch of Henry Holland's new collection for Debenhams, called 'H!'. We obviously didn't get the memo about Oxford Street turning on their lights at the same time, which we found out about when we were on the tube to Oxford Circus & the bloke came over the tannoy to remind us that the train wouldn't be stopping at Oxford Circus (our desired destination) due to overcrowding! A slightly chaotic detour ensued, but we got there in the end!

As soon as we set foot in the pinky/purple lit room, we felt at home! The designs were set out on mannequins around the centre of the room. For some reason, in all the excitement about attending the launch, I forgot that there would actually be clothes there. And the clothes were LUSH! And SO cheap! It makes it so much easier to write about this collection because I am genuinely lusting after 80% of it! Hence the annoying capitals and exclamations! That's just how I roll.

Join me on a trip to grainsville - courtesy of me forgetting my digital camera & having to use my mobile! What a fool.

I fell for this bikini! Ruffles are my life.
Hawaiian cropped cuteness!
All of the dresses were around £30!

This will be having an outerwear moment when I get my mits on it!
Why does awesome lining make me want something even more? It's not like anyone will see it!

I love this Parka! Only £40!

Yummy Rose & Lychee cocktails!

Henry chatting to the legend that is Hilary Alexander!

I met Henry and he was a lovely chap. I managed to resist my drunken urge to joke "Which one are you, John or Edward?! Loved the Britney cover!" which seemed like the greatest idea ever at the time. (Non-UK readers, if you don't yet know about 'Jedward', they are the joke of this years X Factor... and my guilty pleasure!)

(I wasn't actually dressed for the gym, I had skinnies and heels on too!)

It was a fab night and great to meet some of the people involved in creating the collection & organising the event.

The collection is out in February and I truly can't wait!

Hallow there!

Hapy Halloween!

Oh, how I wish I wasn't too old for trick or treating! And oh, how I also wish I was in America for Halloween... It's such a bigger deal over there!

I'll be spending it down the pub with some friends and my beau, who is adamant that he doesn't 'do' halloween! Spoilsport. I think he deserves a trick instead of a treat! I did have a controversial but clever outfit planned (size zero model - complete with long wig, sunken zombie face, skeleton bones stuck on over a chic outfit, and a tape measure as a belt!) but I started to make the outfit this morning and decided it just looked a bit crap, as things tend to when you leave them til the last minute!

So I figured it was best to keep it simple, and go the obvious route...

Tell me about your Halloween plans! I hope you'll be making more of an effort than me?

Giles Deacon pop-up shop live, HERE, soon!

If the title makes no sense to you, you must click HERE and find out how you can get a free Giles Deacon for Cadbury's scarf very soon...!

Make sure you add the Cadbury's Caramel Bunny on Facebook so you can see live updates on which shops have gone live (the pop-up shop will be bunny-hopping from site to site, so you need to be quick!) Mine is one of only 10 blogs chosen to host the pop-up shop so I'm mega excited!!

Let's all have another little look at what could be yours!

Good Luck guys!!

Opposites attract me

I've always had a thing for wearing outfits made up of totally opposing garments. Today it was the £1 Adidas vest I found in a charity shop the other day and a faux fur jacket from H&M. The jacket definitely saved me from looking like a scruffy emo as I so often tend to. I still look a little rough round the edges as these pics were after a long day at Topshop! Sorry for the blah mememe post. Alex is pressurising me to hurry up so we can watch True Blood (♥). If Twilight failed to lure me onto the 'Vampyrz R sooooo Seckxsi' bandwagon (I thought it was utter crud), True Blood has totally succeeded. I kinda hate myself for selling out!

Ear ear!

♥ BTW, congratulations to Laura from A Daisy Chain Dream for winning my Liberty bag competition!! Thanks for all your entries, I thoroughly enjoyed them, and will have another comp coming up soon! xxx ♥

I've been working on this Styling project for uni recently, so have been procuring all manner of strange items and garments that I might need for the shoot in order to create the kind of editorial that I would go all googly eyed over. My concept is basically a fly on the wall of the fashionable girls night in. There'll be lots of playing dress up in weird and wonderful outfits, and I can't wait to actually shoot it and see the end result - and show y'all of course!
A few of the bits I've picked up over the last couple of days are cat ears, leopard ears (I pretty much want to wear them every day - forever) and a cute school blazer I found in a charity shop for £1.50.

We're basically twins!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend & have put your extra hour to good use (aka getting a nice lie in!)

Festive Fifi!

It seems the blog has become awash with bunny related stories of late, and today is no exception!

The wonderful Fifi Lapin is currently starring in a set of Christmas cards for Topshop! She is wearing outfits from their Christmas collection in each of them. So cute! And it's all for charidee. Sorry it's such a tiny picture, I can't find any bigger ones!

Looking at this has made me feel all excited for Christmas!

"You are Lola Lennox, aren't you??"

Also, in a strange twist of fate (and maybe blagging my way in as a 'sex blogger') after Giles' party, we found ourselves very briefly a few miles out of my comfort zone at Durex's 80th birthday party! We got goodie bags filled with every Durex product you could imagine, it was so funny! I shan't dwell on the innards of the goodie bags as I like to at least pretend to have a touch of class!
Oh also, I got 'papped', which was very exciting! Until I realised the paparazzi were not, in fact, readers of my blog, but actually had mistaken me for Annie Lennox's daughter, Lola! Haha!

Hot chocolate gossip!!

♥ BTW - last chance to enter my competition (scroll down, can't be bothered to link it! I wanna get on with my gossip! Bugger, I could've linked it already by now... I'll shut up. Competition ends tomorrow at 8pm!! ♥

So I'm ready to spill the cocoa beans! I'm so excited!! I'm sure you've all heard about the collaboration between top British style icons, Giles Deacon and the Cadbury's Caramel bunny? He designed her a lovely new dress.... but he also designed something for us.

Giles has designed a limited number of scarves to celebrate Cadbury's new chocolate sensation (which I can now verify - they are cruelly moreish), Caramel Nibbles. The scarves will be being given away in Nibbles Boutique, the world's first online pop-up shop! And guess where that will be... Yep, right here!
The shop will go live for a short time at some point on October 30th (I'll be able to verify exactly when a bit nearer the time), so instead of coming to my blog and finding silly videos of cats in hats, you will find yourself in a virtual queue to claim your free scarf (marginally more exciting, I'm sure you'll agree)! You'll actually interact in real time (via live streaming) with real pop-up shop assistants and you'll see your scarf being packed and addressed to you! How spesh is that?

Don't panic if you miss the boat, there'll be some other sites hosting the pop-up shops throughout the day, so the best thing to do is sign up to The Caramel Bunny's facebook page (www.facebook.com/caramelbunny), whose status will change each time one shop shuts and another opens, so you can be first in the queue.

Ahhh, it feels good to let it out, I'm crap at keeping secrets!

I went to the Cadbury's Nibbles launch last night with my friend Hannah and had a fab time, even though we didn't stay long. I also got to see one of my fave bloggers, Miss Woo who looked fabulous. I also saw Emily from My Fashion Life which was lovely!
I also got to meet Giles himself, when he wasn't 'spinning choons on the decks', as they may well say on the street (do they? I wouldn't know!) briefly who was just lovely and so charming. Shame I am pulling the most goon-like expression I could muster! C'est ma vie...

Such fun!!

Thanks for reading and I hope you're having a nice week thus far!

What better way to thank you guys for reading than to inflict you with a ridiculous video blog!

Excuse my hobo attire, it's FREEZING in my flat!

A sweet treat from Giles

(By the way, thanks for all of the further competition entries, loving them! If you haven't entered yet, scroll down! Ends Thursday! ♥)

I am loving the new collaboration between Giles Deacon & the Cadbury's Bunny! What a cute idea! The bunny (rated the 3rd sexiest cartoon character, apparently... But that may change now!), who was previously nakey except for her pussybow neck tie, now has a gorge polka dot prom dress to protect her modesty, created exclusively for her by Giles to celebrate the new Cadbury's Dairy Milk Caramel Nibbles collection. Apparently they taste amazing, btw, but I'm yet to find any for sale in my 'hood! Pretty annoying. In fact, I'm hopping mad about it..! Get it...?!

Anyways...

I actually have some rather juicy Giles x Cadbury related goss for you that you won't want to miss so watch this space...

In the mean time, join me in the rather peculiar experience of envying the physique (and attire, obvz) of a cartoon small mammal.

I just called to say...

Thank you for your fabulous & amusing competition entries! There's still 5 days to enter so keep 'em coming! ♥

FYI, 3 things in my handbag are, My lovely new iPod nano (it has a video camera and a pedometer. Omgz.), A few packets of Cadbury's Clusters I bought from the pound shop earlier (4 for 99p - bargain!)... they are amazing. And finally Love magazine, as I had to take it to uni today as part of my styling project (we have to devise and style a shoot that is relevant to a particular publication - I chose Love.) I'm hoping I won't have now have one very muscular shoulder after hauling that around all day!

This styling project has been keeping me very busy (the end result I will be showing on here when it's complete in about 4 weeks!) and I've also been quite unwell with bad headaches for the past couple of days so I'm sorry it's been a bit quiet here. I'm giving myself a night off from uni work tonight in a bid to make myself feel better. It's going well so far, I've had a snooze on the sofa and cooked some Super Noodles. Next on my exciting Friday night to do list is watching Without a Trace with my special guy.

Hope you've had a fun Friday xo

Competition time!!!

Did you know this blog is almost 2 years old (on the 17th October to be precise)? Well, VoucherCodes.co.uk are approaching their first birthday and you guys are about to benefit from a joint birthday treat! It's the first competition I've ever held and I'm super excited!

For those who didn't know, VoucherCodes.co.uk picks out the very latest online voucher codes, restaurant vouchers, days out vouchers and sales for all the leading online stores - to help you save your cash. Pretty helpful if you're a skint student like myself! Or one of these recessionista-bargainista-frugal-fashionista types. Some of their great fashion offers include a 15% off Motel Clothing discount code, a Marks and Spencer Promotional Code, some New Look Discount Codes and a Karen Millen Promotional Code. There's also a 15% off Benefit Cosmetics discount code which I plan to thoroughly abuse!

So anyway, back to you guys. Up for grabs is a gorgeous Liberty Lost Property eco bag, designed by Katy Bell, worth £50. These bags are made from recycled coffee sacks and Liberty fabric and are also reversible (2 for the price of one. And that price is zero! So, if we're being honest here, it's 2 bags for free!) Due to being made from totally recycled fabrics, the bags are one of a kind. This means there's a bit of mystery as to what yours will look like but it will be very similar to the bag below. Cute as heck, no?

To win, indulge my Geminian nosey side and leave me a comment telling me 3 things that are in your handbag. A winner will be chosen at random after the competition closes on Thursday 22nd October. Don't forget to leave your email address if it isn't on your Blogger profile!

The competition is only available to UK readers due to laws 'n' stuff. Full T's & C's available here.

GOOD LUCK!!

My fuzzy new friend!

Here's my new black & silver fuzzy cardigan from Topshop. I've been wearing it rather a lot lately as it's perfect for this iffy time of year when it's sunny but freezing! It's a strange texture... kinda ridiculously soft lurex fur-like woolly stuff. Wow, I ought to get a job on QVC with describing skillz like that!
I thought there was only room for one black & silver fuzzy friend in my life (I'm of course referring to little Roxy!), but I was wrong! There's been no rivalry just yet, but I'm keeping an eye on the situation.

It's cool to procrastinate.

I got up at 9am today with high hopes of doing work on my styling project for Uni and some housework.

It is now 1.15pm and what I have actually achieved is watching the finale of Running in Heels, reading blogs and copying a Luella SS/10 look.

If only there was a degree in fashion-related procrastination... Maybe I should start one?

Grey, polka dots, hair bow & black eyes @ Luella SS/10...

Grey, polka dots, hair bow & black eyes @ my house 13.22pm

(Corset from Topshop)

I actually really like this makeup. Because everything else is nude except the eyelids, the result is somehow cute rather than gothy. Hannah Murray, the make-up artist who created the look described it as "manga meets Princess Margaret"! Amen to that.

By the way, sorry about the cruddy Photo Booth pictures, my camera is being a complete loser at the moment. Hopefully it will be back in action soon.

Gem Fatale's styl[IST] blog!

One of the benefits of studying Fashion Promotion at Uni is speaking to people who are actually in the industry. For example, one of our lecturers is Piers Atkinson, a milliner who just showed at LFW as part of Stephen Jones' 'Headonism' collective (showcasing emerging London milliners) and has also just created a collection for Topshop. Here's his collection for Headonism:

On Friday, stylist, Kim Howells (who works with Piers as a stylist and consultant) was our guest lecturer.

Kim used to work as Nicola Formichetti's assistant before moving on to do her own thang, and now regularly styles for the likes of V & Dazed as well as styling for fashion films and music videos (including this awesome one for The Golden Silvers 'True Romance'):

Here's some of Kim's editorial work. She has something of a signature style with the use of props that she commissions and adds to the outfits, seen here in the form of crazy bright shoulder-pieces and cars as gloves (why not?). Howeveer, she's no one trick pony, producing much moodier images too. Feast your eyes:

Kim, who is also a blogger, gave us an insider's account of what it's like to work as a stylist's assistant as well as moving on to solo styling. I think it was probably a bit of a wake up call for the stylist wannabes on the course (bringing a sense of relief to my journo-wannabe self), and it was certainly clear that, whatever 'it' is, you've either got it or you haven't.

I know a lot of blog-readers want to work in fashion, and a big chunk of those that want to work in fashion want to be stylists, so I thought I'd share a few of Kim's tips with you lot. Even if you don't want to be a stylist, a lot of it is relative to working in the industry in general...

♥ First and foremost - SAVE MONEY NOW! Work your ass off whilst you're in the protective bubble of your student loan. You will be working for free for a long time and the more you can save, the better off you'll be! Kim said she lived in a squat for a while with 10 other people! If that doesn't sound like the life for you, you'd better get saving!

♥ Similarly, whilst you're working for free, find ways to make money in your spare time. Kim suggested contacting PR agencies for promotional work (you can get around £150 a day), and making Ebay your bezzie mate.

♥ Assistants must always carry a 'styling kit'. I thought this was just pins and bulldog clips etc, but there's a lot more to it. Kim's suggestions included: different types of underwear, insoles, tit tape, all different kinds of tape, a tape measure, a lint roller, tights. Your stylist probably doesn't have any of this so it's crucial that you do!

♥ Meet people. As the old saying goes, it's not what you know, it's who you know, so network. And make a good impression.

♥ Always be available to work. As an assistant, the stylist's needs come before your own, so be prepared to drop everything to help them.

♥ BE USEFUL. When assisting, your job is to make everyone's lives easier. If you're on a shoot and you've got a moment where you are at a loose end, fetch drinks for people, tidy, do anything. Don't stand about chatting to the crew. Kim said the fashion world is surprisingly small and everyone knows everything about everyone, so if you get a reputation for being a lazy assistant, your career is basically over before it's started! Scary stuff!

♥ Keep your head down. You may think you're the next Katie Grand, and maybe you are, but as an assistant, your purpose is to be in the background and get on with the task at hand. If you're good, your time to shine will come.

So there you have it. After hearing about all of the scary realities of styling, I wanted to hear more about the good times that come from putting all of those tips into practice, so I asked Kim what her career highlight was. She replied that it wasn't a specific moment as such, but more the people she gets to be surrounded by - her "fashion family", and how by being surrounded by amazing people, even at the end of a 14 hour day, you're still buzzing with excitement about whatever it is you're all working towards.

Her reply really stayed with me. I think it's that relentless passion that is really needed to be a stylist. Bouncing off others and sharing that energy together to create an amazing result. That's 'it'!

Hot mesh

Holla!

I'd just quickly like to mention that I joined bloglovin this eve, so hit me up on the left sidebar!

Back to business. I've been loving the Urban Outfitters sale over the last week. My uni is in Chatham, a hideous little town which holds little shopping prospects and ought to be approached with caution - and preferably a stab-vest. So it's pretty cool that Bluewater is only a 20 minute drive away, for all my Urban Outfitters and Kripsy Kreme needs. I have some serious Krispy Kreme needs.

I bought this mesh body for 9.99, which I wore to work today with a strategically placed denim jacket! It's not as see thru as the flash makes it look (otherwise I certainly wouldn't risk wearing it to work!) It's double layered so you can't really see much at all.

I bought this zippy crop top for 9.99

(I stumbled upon some cat eye glasses I bought on ebay last year which always bring out the batty old lady in me.)

I also bought this quilted duffle bag for 14.99

I dyed my hair darker this morning. 'Cyber Purple' appealed to me on many levels, eg. intaweb connotationz. And the fact that my hair now almost matches my Emma Cooks!

More Lizzle Fizzle Wizzle reflection

Starting with my one true love, Luella. I have to say this collection didn't excite me as much as previous collections, there wasn't as much of the subversive undercurrent I've come to love from her, but there were a few really lovely looks that more than made up for it. I mean, how can you stay mad at the lady who created these polka dot trousers! It's impossible!

The PPQ collection was a bit 'meh'-inducing... I adore the pink jumpsuit and the black one is nice too, but the rest of the collection does nothing for me, which is a shame because I always look forward to their show as it is usually right up my alley. There seems to be a lot of random pieces and the collection in general lacks a sense of direction and thematicism that the duo usually posess in spades.

Yay:

Nay:

I really loved the Peter Pilotto collection, which was a structured, yet sexy affair with Deep V's aplenty! The cut of the crossover style dress is perfection, as well as the jackets.

Last but not least is the only look I liked from the House of Holland collection, which Sarah Mower ripped a new a-hole, for lack of a better phrase, in her review on style.com. A highly amusing read! For those who can't be bothered to click the link, here's a highlight: " ...a presentation with very little substance and plenty of ironically tacky clothes that are actually genuinely tacky, too (how else to describe tangerine lace?). Today's show was little more than a barely concealed excuse for a party and extravagant posing for magazines and bloggers in the front row".

After all that, Louise Gray remains my LFW favourite!

LFW Fave of the morning - Louise Gray

I literally can't take my eyes off this collection!
But I shall have to now as I've got to leave for my first day back at Uni. Booo.

Today's outfit...

I wore one of my favouritest Parisian purchases to work today. It's a cute little pair of floral dungarees I bought for 3 Euros in a vintage shop. I had to shorten the legs a bit as they were very unflattering before, but that made for a fun craft project in between house work and wii fit on my day off yesterday!

Time for dinner now, courtest of chef Alex and then Derren Brown and Peep Show on Channel 4! I live for TV nights!

To buy or not to buy...

Alex & Chloe are having an online sample sale which is brimming with cheap treats (caution: may include francophilia).

(Translates as 'I'm too sexy for this shirt'!)

Seeing as my student loan has reared it's sexy head today, I may have to treat myself to the Bonjour necklace. I saw it on someone else's blog over a year ago and wanted it back then so am super happy it's now tres cheap.

Having said that, I have been questioning my attitude to buying stuff recently... It's not that I am a spendaholic, not by any means, but it's the fact that I go off a lot of the things I do buy so quickly. One minute I think I can't even imagine life without a particular item, next minute it has lost it's shine and is languishing, unloved, on my bedroom floor and may or may not have a cat fast asleep on top of it.

I'm not sure whether it's just my fickle nature or simply that a lot of my purchases are from Topshop these days, as a result of having deliciously new items being thrust in my face on a daily basis. And then more new stuff, which makes the old new stuff seem very old indeed... On closer inspection it would seem that I am inarticulately describing the very nature of this Fashion malarkey I have decided to make a career out of, and the moral crises that come with it!

I'm not about to open the labyrinthine 'morals & fashion' can of worms because it usually leads me to the conclusion that I kinda hate fashion a bit (well, fast fashion, at least)! So I'll brush that one under the rug for the time being! And shall instead, gaze at the Topshop dress that came in today that I am 99% sure I can't live without but, in protest against myself, will definitely not be buying... for now!

*sigh*
